BAND TO WATCH: SURFER BLOOD
Seriously, these guys are young, but they know what they want & they’re gonna get it.
Hailing from West Palm Beach, Florida, I saw these dudes play at Mango’s on Tuesday with my friends’ bands opening. I hadn’t heard of them before that night but these cats can put on a killer live show! Their record Astro Coast will be released on Kanine Records in January, but you can pick up a CD if they come touring through your town. They’re currently on a 45 day tour, so the likely hood of them rolling through your turf is probable. I’ve been listening to their CD non-stop. Jammin in my car. Seriously, the perfect summer soundtrack. Wish I had heard of them sooner.

Unlearning is a concept that really seems to be underrated. But within the context of knowledge building and learning capacity, I’ve come to recognize that it’s a foundational skill that shouldn’t be ignored. In order to learn new things, you have to be open to new ideas. And in order to be open to new ideas, you have to be willing to challenge your own fixed thinking and natural biases.
